- Ice on the copper suction line — shut the AC off, run fan only for 2 hours
- Breaker trips on startup — likely a failing capacitor or hard-starting compressor
- Air is cool but the house won't drop — duct leakage or an undersized system
- Outdoor fan running but the compressor is silent — call immediately
The 24-hour rule
If your system has been running nonstop for more than a day without hitting setpoint, it's not going to catch up — something is wrong. Call before the compressor fails, because a small part on Tuesday beats a full replacement on Saturday.
